The Director of Member Engagement works with PMTA’s team to achieve membership engagement, recruitment, and retention goals by leading and engaging in membership-related activities. The position is responsible for managing the generation of new memberships as well as meaningful engagement activity for PMTA’s 1200 existing members. The Director of Member Engagement will also support PMTA’s regional Chapters and allied members while creating and managing business partnerships that generate revenue through various sponsorships, programs, and services. The Director’s primary focus is PMTA’s members and potential members.

Duties:

  • Work in a team-focused environment to develop and manage a mission-driven membership strategy to engage, retain, and activate PMTA members and ensure a high member retention rate and steady member growth.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective PMTA members. Respond to member inquiries and perform active follow-up to ensure member satisfaction and increased member engagement.
  • Establish member engagement and growth goals, track progress, and provide regular reports on membership metrics.
  • Function as the primary contact at PMTA headquarters for its Chapters and allied members.
  • Prepare meeting materials for PMTA’s Chapter Relations and Allied Committees. Work with the committee chairs and PMTA staff to support the committees, share best practices, and help guide the committees’ work on PMTA’s strategic initiatives.
  • Help PMTA’s nine Chapters maintain required processes and documents related to budgeting and financial activity, elections, events, meetings, board officers, etc.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to generate value for PMTA members and revenue for the association, including sponsors and partnerships.
  • Represent PMTA at events, including Chapter meetings, job fairs, trade shows, member meetings, the Annual Membership Conference, council and committee meetings, PA Truck Driving Championships, Safety Day, Youth Driving Competitions, PA Trucking FFWD, etc.
  • Work with PMTA’s Director of Communications to provide effective outreach and communications for member engagement and to showcase the value of membership in PMTA.
  • Collaborate with the PMTA team to ensure that programs, services, education, and events align with overall association strategy.
  • Assist with planning and coordination of PMTA events and activities, including the Annual Membership Conference, the Truck Driving Championships, and many other smaller events.
  • Present innovative ideas for strategic development of PMTA and its membership services and benefits to create robust offerings and experiences for members.
  • Work in membership management database to manage members and generate correspondence, reports, events, and web content.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • This position is an onsite job in Camp Hill, PA, but travel around the state for events is required.

Education/Experience/Other Requirements:

  • At least two years of relevant sales experience in a fast-paced professional environment, preferably working in a membership-based organization.
  • Experience in the trucking/transportation industry is welcome, but not required.
  • Ability to coordinate with and work well as a member of a team.
  • Skilled in organization and reporting, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal communications skills, including public speaking.
  • Strong written communications skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain successful professional working relationships.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to members and prospective members.
  • Creative problem solver; can independently devise options and solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Ability to respond to stressful situations in a professional manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, Google apps, and experience with other management software systems.
