Job Functions:

  • Create and maintain a communications plan for the association.
  • Prepare, design, and edit PennTrux publication with assistance of publisher.
  • Provide content and produce biweekly member emails. Review and coordinate weekly emails provided by third party.
  • Serve as the primary PMTA website administrator, including: creating and maintaining events, updating all page content, and bulk emails.
  • Maintain and update all information on the PMTA Mobile App from the online dashboard.
  • Research news venues to provide up-to-date trucking industry-related information and traffic advisories.
  • Participate in planning and coordination of all association events, including the Annual Membership Conference, PA Truck Driving Championships, Safety Day, Driver of the Year Awards Banquet, legislative member events, Truck Driver Appreciation Week events, and others:
  • Work with planning committees and event coordinators to establish event details (location, dates, pricing, sponsor levels, etc.).
  • Update PMTA website and social media frequently to reflect event updates and information.
  • Create all event-related publications and signage.
  • Produce supporting materials for sponsors and advertisers.
  • Create program booklets and other printed materials (if applicable).
  • Create post-event recap and materials.
  • Photograph PMTA and Chapter events for publications.
  • Coordinate the production of printed member directory on an annual basis.
  • Conduct advertising solicitation and contract negotiations.
  • Design ads and promotional material and interact with printers, advertising agencies, and other vendors.
  • Organize and facilitate virtual meetings and webinars.
  • Assist with answering phone and emails, directing calls, and event registrations.
  • Prepare information and promote all PMTA and chapter events and activities.
  • Write press releases, op-eds, and statements, and contact media representatives.
  • Represent PMTA and promote trucking image at various committees, meetings, and events.
  • Record, compile, transcribe, and distribute Board meeting minutes.
  • Manage the association’s social media outreach, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
  • Assist with member recruitment and retention.
  • Assist with membership issues and manage membership database.
  • Think creatively and suggest ways to promote the association and its membership to the public.
  • Other related duties as required.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field and experience in public relations or corporate communications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Association experience, where members are the principal focus of the job, is a plus.
  • Prefer experience with marketing, website management, and business applications of social media.

Other Requirements:

  • Detail-oriented writer and creative communicator.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to members and prospective members.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities, shifting needs, and various stakeholder expectations.
  • Ability to respond to stressful situations in a professional manner.
  • Ability to collaborate as a member of PMTA’s team to do what is necessary to support PMTA’s members.

Normal Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:45, with one hour off for lunch. Some overnight travel and occasional weekends will be required.

This position is an onsite job in Camp Hill, PA, but travel throughout the state is required at times to support chapter and PMTA events.
