In Memoriam: William F. “Bill” Graham, Jr.
Dedicated Transportation Professional and Longtime PMTA Safety Advocate
The Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association is saddened to share the passing of William F. “Bill” Graham, Jr., a devoted member and longtime volunteer, who passed away on April 20, 2025, at the age of 80.
Bill spent the majority of his life deeply rooted in the transportation and trucking industry. A 1962 graduate of Octorara Area High School in Atglen, PA, he dedicated his professional career to promoting highway safety and operational excellence. He served as a driver for various companies and for many years as the Safety Director at Yellow Freight’s Lancaster terminal, where he was known for his thorough knowledge, sound judgment, and steady leadership.
Bill was a passionate safety advocate and generously volunteered his time with PMTA’s Safety Management Council and the Truck Driving Championships. His commitment to advancing safe driving practices and mentoring drivers was felt across the industry and appreciated by all who had the privilege of working with him.
A true professional, Bill was respected for his calm demeanor—even in challenging situations—and his steadfast commitment to doing the right thing.
Beyond his professional contributions, Bill was a family man and avid outdoorsman who enjoyed traveling, RVing, and supporting local fire companies. He is survived by his daughter Valerie and her partner John, niece Holly, and grand-nephew Wade.
Bill’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he impacted through his work, mentorship, and friendship. The PMTA community is better because of his contributions, and he will be deeply missed.
