FMCSA Extends Emergency Declaration for Fuel Transport to End of February
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has extended Regional Emergency Declaration No. 2025-001, originally issued on January 10, 2025, in response to severe winter storms and fuel distribution challenges. This extension is effective immediately and remains in effect until 11:59 P.M. (ET), February 28, 2025.
The declaration continues to provide temporary relief from federal hours-of-service (HOS) regulations for motor carriers and drivers transporting heating fuels (propane, natural gas, heating oil), gasoline, and diesel into the affected states. All other safety regulations remain in effect, and normal operations must resume upon the conclusion of emergency relief efforts.

- Kansas
- Maine
- Maryland
- Massachusetts
- New Hampshire
- New Jersey
- New York
- North Carolina
- Pennsylvania
- Rhode Island
- Vermont
- Wisconsin
