Before I go, I wanted to say........

Before I go, I wanted to say........

There are moments in a career that don’t feel like transitions-they feel like leaving something unfinished in the best possible way.

This is one of those moments for me.

Writing this isn’t easy. Not because I don’t know what to say, but because I’m genuinely proud of what we’ve been building together-and even more aware that we were right on the cusp of something special.

Over the past year, this space-Safety Sensitive-has never just been about compliance updates or regulatory reminders. It’s been about something bigger. It’s been about elevating the conversation around safety. About challenging ourselves to think beyond minimum standards and toward meaningful, defensible, and sustainable practices. About building a community that understands that safety is not proprietary-and that when one of us gets better, we all get better.

And we ARE getting better.

I’ve seen it in conversations at meetings. I’ve seen it in the questions being asked-smarter, deeper, more intentional. I’ve seen it in the willingness to share, to challenge, and to improve. That’s not accidental. That’s culture. And culture, when it starts to take hold, is where real progress lives.

That’s why this is hard.

Because we weren’t maintaining something-we were building something. A foundation. A direction. A standard that I truly believe would have continued to raise the bar not just for Pennsylvania, but for the industry as a whole.

But here’s what I also know.

What we started doesn’t stop because one person steps away.

The mindset is here. The momentum is here. The expectation that safety is more than a checklist-that it’s a leadership responsibility, a cultural commitment, and a daily decision-that’s already taken root. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned in this industry, it’s that when safety professionals decide something matters, it sticks.

My last day will be April 17th, and I remain available until then if anyone needs anything. It has been my sincere pleasure to be part of such a fantastic association-one that truly embodies what this industry can be at its best.

To every member, every safety professional, every driver, and every leader who engaged, contributed, challenged, and supported-thank you. Not just for reading these articles, but for doing the work behind them. Because at the end of the day, none of this matters unless it shows up on the road, in the yard, and in the decisions we make when no one is watching.

That’s where you showed up.

And that’s why I leave with confidence.

Not because the work is finished-but because it’s in good hands.

Safety is not proprietary. Keep sharing. Keep learning. Keep getting better-every day, one day at a time. Give each other some grace, while still holding the standard.

Because the courtroom doesn’t reward who’s right; it rewards who’s ready.

And you’re closer than you think.

One last time from me:

Make it Safe. Make it Personal. Make it Home.
