Enable participants to design, deliver, and sustain effective safety training programs for drivers and staff using data-driven insights and adult learning principles. Module Description This module focuses on building effective, ongoing safety training programs that improve driver performance, strengthen compliance, and support a positive safety culture. Participants learn how to identify training needs using operational and compliance data—including accident trends, violations, and CSA performance—and translate those insights into targeted, impactful training initiatives. Instruction emphasizes adult learning principles and practical training design across multiple delivery formats, including classroom, online, hands-on, and peer-led instruction. Participants also explore methods for evaluating training effectiveness through knowledge checks, observation, and performance metrics, ensuring training investments produce measurable results. Through collaborative exercises and peer teaching, participants develop and present a driver safety training module, receive structured feedback, and learn how to build a sustainable training calendar that supports continuous improvement and regulatory readiness. Topics Covered Identifying training needs using data (accidents, violations, CSA performance) Adult learning principles in safety training Designing engaging training (classroom, online, hands-on, peer-led) Evaluating training effectiveness (quizzes, observations, performance metrics) Building and maintaining a continuous training calendar Learning Activities Group development of a driver safety training module (topic selected by participants) Peer-teaching exercise with structured feedback Learning Objectives Design effective safety training programs using adult learning principles Identify training needs based on performance, incident, and compliance data Evaluate training effectiveness using feedback and performance metrics Required Resources / Readings OSHA Training Requirements Handbook FMCSA Safety Measurement System (SMS) methodology Assessment Develop a 30-minute driver safety training session (outline and delivery method) Peer-teaching exercise with instructor and participant feedback

PMTA Educational Series Overview
The PMTA Educational Series is a structured, six-module professional development program delivered throughout the year. Each module is designed as a stand-alone course, allowing participants to register individually based on their needs and availability.
While modules may be taken independently, maximum benefit is achieved by completing all six modules in sequence, as each builds upon concepts, terminology, and compliance principles introduced in earlier sessions. This progressive format provides the most comprehensive understanding of regulatory compliance, safety management, and operational best practices.
Participation in all six modules is strongly recommended but not required. However, in the event that registration capacity is reached, priority enrollment may be given to participants who have completed previous modules in the series.
