This seminar provides a practical, working-level review of 49 CFR Part 395, including key regulatory interpretations, current exemptions, and recent guidance. Participants will engage in hands-on exercises focused on familiarization with and auditing of a driver’s Record of Duty Status (RODS/logbooks), reinforcing how the regulations apply in real-world operations.
A dedicated portion of the class will address Personal Conveyance, including common compliance pitfalls, enforcement trends, and policy best practices. ELD regulations will also be reviewed, with emphasis on carrier responsibilities, supporting documentation, and audit readiness.
Participants are required to bring a current copy of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR), commonly referred to as the “Green Book.” This reference will be used throughout the course during interactive exercises and group discussions. If a copy is needed, FMCSR Green Books are available for purchase through the PMTA website https://members.pmta.org/store
Attendees are encouraged to bring a copy of their company’s Hours-of-Service and/or Personal Conveyance policy for discussion and practical application.
This course is designed for entry-level supervisors seeking a strong foundational understanding of Hours-of-Service compliance, as well as experienced personnel looking for a refresher or updates on regulatory changes they may not be aware of. The format is intentionally interactive, emphasizing discussion, problem-solving, and real-world scenarios rather than traditional lecture.
A lunch break will be given from 1200-1300. Class will conclude at approximately 1600.
