Each year, the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association brings together motor carriers, professional drivers, industry leaders, and families for one of the most meaningful evenings in Pennsylvania trucking — the PMTA Driver of the Year Banquet.
This annual celebration recognizes the very best professional drivers in the Commonwealth — individuals whose careers represent millions of safe miles, unwavering professionalism, and a lifelong commitment to safety and excellence behind the wheel.
Throughout the year, the PMTA Safety Management Council (SMC) Awards Subcommittee carefully selects twelve Drivers of the Month from among PMTA member companies. Selections are based on driving record, safety performance, award history, and demonstrated examples of leadership, excellence, or even bravery on the job.
From those twelve elite professionals, the Pennsylvania State Police review the candidates and select one individual to receive the industry’s highest honor — PMTA Driver of the Year.
But the evening is about more than recognizing one outstanding professional.
It is about celebrating the people who move the goods that power our economy. It is about honoring careers built on discipline, responsibility, and pride. And it is about thanking the families who support these drivers every mile of the journey.
Motor carriers, industry partners, and families gather each year not simply to present awards, but to celebrate the professionalism, commitment, and integrity that define Pennsylvania’s trucking industry.
This year’s program will feature remarks from Mark P. Compton, Chief Executive Officer of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.
Mark P. Compton of Manheim, PA., began serving as chief executive officer of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission on Feb. 1, 2013. A professional with more than two decades of public and private-sector experience in transportation, administration, government affairs, and construction, Mark holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University. He previously served as PennDOT’s deputy secretary of administration, overseeing eight bureaus within the agency. Before joining PennDOT, Mark was director of government affairs for American Infrastructure, a heavy civil construction company in Worcester, Pa.
